If you are trying to live a more natural lifestyle, free from toxins and synthetics, then you may be using homemade shampoos and conditioners to avoid chemicals in your daily routine. And even if you’re not using homemade ones, sometime the more natural store-bought items can leave your hair feeling a little dry. This Deep Relief Conditioner Recipe will naturally give your hair some extra moisture and softness, without the use of any nasty chemicals!
- 6 TBS Coconut Oil
- 2 TBS Jojoba Oil
- 1 TBS Shea Butter
- 1 TBS Avocado Oil
- 1 TSB Cucumber Oil
- 1 tsp Honey (optional)
- 3 drops Lavender Essential Oil
- 3 drops Rosemary Essential Oil
- 3 drops Geranium Essential Oil
Slightly warm Coconut Oil and Shea Butter so that they are soft or melted. Add Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil, Avocado Oil, and Cucumber Oil together in bowel and mix well. Add honey if you’d like to lighten your hair. Then add Essential Oils. Place in sealed container, place in fridge and let harden. This will make it easier to use later.
I used a blender to mix the ingredients really well, but a simple fork or whisk will do.
Directions for use:
If your mixture separates during the settling processes, try mixing it up a little with a spoon before use. Place on hair by starting at the roots and working your way to the ends of your hair. Make sure the layer on the ends of your hair is thick. Cover with foil or shower cap, and blow dry for 15-30 minutes or just let sit for 1-2 hours. Hair can be slightly damp when you apply this mixture. If you'd like you can leave this mixture on your head/hair over night, just make sure to wear a shower cap to protect your sheets and pillows!
To use as a detangling spray place 10 parts boiling water in with 1 part mixture and shake, place into a spray bottle, preferably glass.
