Homemade Sleepy-time Baby Wash

Homemade Sleepy-time Baby Wash

It can be frustrating to read some of the baby washes out on the shelves today, with their lists of ingredients most of us cannot pronounce and get too lazy to read through because it is so hard.  Our babies are delicate and deserve the most natural products we can use.  So, why buy a sleepy-time wash when you can make one with just four simple ingredients? By using our Makes 3 OrganicsⓇ Organic Liquid Soaps (buy our 32oz Refill sizes), you are using a plant-based soap perfect for sensitive, newborn skin.

All you need is:

  • ½ cup Makes 3 OrganicsⓇ Organic Liquid Soaps
  • ½ cup clean distilled water, tap water is fine for short-term use
  • 2 tablespoons Fractionated Coconut Oil, or any other nourishing oil you love
  • 1 tsp vegetable glycerin, optional for enhancing bath bubbles
  • 10 drops of lavender essential oil or your choice of calming essential oils

Start by adding the water first to prevent bubbles, you can use a jar to keep fresh and closed up. Then add the castile soap, glycerin, oils and shake well. You can use the all natural wash with a washcloth or sponge.

Lavender essential oil is a key part of this recipe. In fact, it is the most used essential oil today. Lavender essential oil has many natural benefits, ranging from its powerful antioxidant, antimicrobial, sedative, calming and also anti-depressive properties. It is perfect to use with babies and kids because of all it's calming effects. Lavender induces sleep, relieves stress and anxiety and relieves pain. Lavender oil has also been known to kill lice and heal cuts and burns. In addition, lavender oil helps the digestive tract which is perfect before bed or for soothing any belly aches.

Try out this recipe we can’t get enough of and we would love to see your family’s bedtime routine, please tag us at @makes3organics on FB, Instagram and Twitter.
